ROCHESTER RED WINGS (38-45) at PAWTUCKET RED SOX (47-38)

RHP SAMUEL DEDUNO (1-1, 2.57) vs. RHP ZACH STEWART (1-0, 1.59)

FIREWORKS WEEK: The Rochester Red Wings tonight play the first game of a 2-game series and roadtrip at Pawtucket (Red Sox). Following tomorrow's series finale, the Red Wings will return to Frontier Field for a 6-game homestand that leads into the All-Star Break. Rochester will host Pawtucket for 3 and then Lehigh Valley (Phillies) for 3 Saturday-Sunday before taking the 3-day hiatus.

a The Red Wings and IronPigs play a doubleheader Sunday, the last day of action before the All-Star Break. Gametime is 12:05 p.m.

NO SUCH THING AS GOODBYE: The Red Wings tonight face PawSox starter Zach Stewart, who was acquired by the Red Sox from the White Sox as part of the Kevin Youkilis trade on June 24. The Red Wings were scheduled to face Stewart at Frontier Field that day, when he was a member of the White Sox's Triple-A Charlotte club.

HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW: The Red Wings are coming off a split of a 2-game series vs. Empire State (Yankees), losing the opener 6-4 Saturday before winning yesterday's finale 5-3. Even with the victory, the Red Wings have lost 3 of their last 4 and 5 of their last 8. Rochester is 9-12 since a season-best 4-game winning streak June 6-9. The Wings haven't won more than 2 games in a row since that 4-game streak, which tied a season high from May 3-5. Rochester is 24-22 beginning May 15 after opening the season 14-23.

a Left-handed reliever Caleb Thielbar yesterday became the 18th different pitcher to notch a win for the Red Wings. Right-handed reliever Luis Perdomo, meanwhile, last night became the 7th different Red Wing to register a save.

WE'LL TAKE IT: The Red Wings finished June 15-14 for their first winning record in a calendar month since going 17-15 in August 2009. The Wings started the month 7-2, but went 8-12 the rest of the way.

a At 15-14, the Red Wings posted their best record of any calendar month this season, yet logged their highest ERA of any month at 4.48 (126 ER/253.1 IP). Rochester scored 109 runs in 29 games in June, however, for their highest monthly average of 3.8 runs per game. The Wings averaged 3.1 runs per game in April (71 runs in 23 games) and 3.4 runs in May (103 runs in 30 games).

ROAD WOES: The Red Wings are an International League-worst 11-24 on the road, a record that doesn't include a 4-4 mark at Frontier Field as the "road" team against Empire State. Rochester has won just 2 road series, sweeping a 2-game series at Syracuse (Nationals) to open the season and taking 3 of 4 at Louisville (Reds) June 14-17. The Wings are 2-7-1 in 10 road series overall.

LONG DIVISION: Rochester is only 16-27 against IL North Division teams, while going 22-18 outside the division. The Red Wings have won just 3 series against IL North clubs and all are 2-game sweeps at Syracuse (Nationals) April 5-6, vs. Lehigh Valley April 20-22, and vs. Buffalo (Mets) May 5.

a The Red Wings are in the midst of playing their final 14 games leading into the All-Star Break against North Division rivals. They are 2-4 thus far during the stretch.

PEDRO VOTED FOR: Shortstop Pedro Florimon on Wednesday was selected to the International League All-Star team, which will host the Pacific Coast League All-Stars July 11 at Buffalo's Coca-Cola Field. Florimon is the lone Red Wings' representative and he will back up starter Pedro Ciriaco of Pawtucket. The Twins claimed Florimon off waivers from the Orioles December 5, 2011.

COME BACK, LIAM: The Red Wings entered play June 10 at Indianapolis ranked 3rd in the IL with a 3.45 ERA. In 21 games beginning June 10, the day after Liam Hendriks made his final start before getting recalled to Minnesota, the Red Wings have posted a 5.69 ERA (116 ER/183.1 IP). They now rank tied for 8th in the league with a 4.02 ERA. Rochester is 9-12 in this stretch.

a Red Wings' starters are just 4-9 with a 6.31 ERA (64 ER/91.1 IP) in 21 games beginning June 10. Rochester starters are 21-26 with a 4.17 ERA (190 ER/410.0 IP) overall.

a Rochester starters are winless in the last 6 games, going 0-2 with a 5.04 ERA (14 ER/25.0 IP). The most-recent win by a starter came last Monday, when Cole De Vries defeated Charlotte at Frontier Field.

WALK WITH ME: The Red Wings in July are celebrating "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend," a month-long initiative at Frontier Field to inspire women in the Rochester area to support baseball and community. For a $35 registration fee, fans can walk around the warning track at Frontier Field with the women of the Red Wings' front office every business day from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. The fee also includes participation in a baseball clinic with Red Wings' players and coaches on August 18, one raffle ticket for the grand-prize $3,000 diamond baseball necklace from West and Company, 2 tickets to a game featuring the Red Wings or Empire State Yankees, and a "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" limited-edition pink t-shirt.

a Proceeds will be donated to United Way of Greater Rochester. The drawing for the diamond necklace, which is being created by jeweler David Nytch specifically for this occasion, will be held at the Red Wings' game on August 10 vs. Pawtucket.

a Speaking of walking, the Red Wings' offense has logged 239 walks, the 2nd-lowest total in the IL ahead of only Lehigh Valley's 216.
