Turner Knocked Around in Series Opener as Hens Lose 4-1 to Columbus

The Hens opened their holiday home stand up with a 4-1 loss at the hands of the Columbus Clippers on Monday night.

The Clippers started off the scoring with a Gregorio Petit sacrifice fly in the second to take a quick 1-0 lead. Matt Young responded with an RBI single in the bottom of the next inning to tie it at one a piece.

The tie remained until the sixth inning when the Clippers piled on three runs with five hits off Jacob Turner to take a 4-1 lead. Turner took the loss after allowing four runs on nine hits through 5.2 innings. He also struck out five and walked two.

The Hens were quiet offensively, picking up just four hits, all singles off Clippers starter T.J. McFarland.

The Hens will look to rebound with a win in game two of the series tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. Thad Weber is scheduled to make the start for the Hens.

Game Notes

Argenis Diaz extended his hit streak to five games with a single in the third.

Jacob Turner has allowed four earned runs in 3 of his 8 starts this season.
