GAME NOTES: The Rochester Americans (22-8-3-3, 50 points) will look to continue their winning ways tonight as they host the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (17-19-0-2, 36 points). The contest will be broadcast live on WHTK 1280-AM and via the Internet at www.amerks.com. After the game, stop by Nathaniel's Pub for the Amerks official post-game party.
HEAD-TO-HEAD: The Ducks lead the season series with a 2-1-0-0 record. On November 5th, the Amerks defeated the Ducks 3-1 in front of 12,126 fans at HSBC Arena. Amerks forward Thomas Vanek scored two goals, and Ryan Miller made 29 saves to lead the way for the Amerks. Ducks forward Chris Kunitz leads the team against the Amerks this season with four points (2+2). The Amerks lead the all-time series with an 18-15-6 mark.
AMERK NOTES: The Amerks return home after a grueling road trip, where the team picked up six of a possible eight points. The team is 9-1-0-0 in their last 10 games and owns the second-best record in the Western Conference. The team is now second in the AHL in the penalty killing department, with an 88.5% success rate (154 for 174). The team is also ranked fifth defensively, allowing 2.36 goals-per game. Rookie forward Daniel Paille has scored four goals in the last three games, including his first professional hat trick against the Cleveland Barons on December 7th. Forward Sean McMorrow scored his first professional regular season goal against Edmonton on January 5th. McMorrow's only other goal was in the playoffs against Syracuse in Game Four of last season's North Division Semifinal series. Rookie forward Thomas Vanek continues to lead all AHL rookies with15 goals.
SCOUTING THE DUCKS: The Ducks are on a roll as of late, going 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 games. On the season, the team is last in the AHL in the power-play department on the road, with a 10.2% success rate (14 for 137). Forward Joffrey Lupul continues to lead the team in points with 31 (13+18). Lupul currently has a six-game points streak (6+5). Defenseman Kurtis Foster has also been a hot streak as of late. Foster has scored one goal in each of his last four games.
NEXT HOME GAME: The Amerks will be back at home on Friday night to face off against the Utah Grizzlies at 7:35 p.m. The contest will be broadcast live on WHTK 1280-AM and via the Internet on www.amerks.com.
