Manitoba Moose News Release

Burrows, Roy, Kesler, Morrison and Goren each scored as the Manitoba Moose improved their road record to 13-2-1-1 defeating the San Antonio Rampage 6-3 Tuesday night.

The "Inferno Line" of Burrows, Schultz and Nolan was buzzing around the San Antonio net early. After several chances down low were thwarted by Rampage netmidner Travis Scott, Alexandre Burrows was finally able to lift a loose puck over Scott to give the Moose the game's first goal. Jesse Schultz tried to make a move in front of Scott but lost the puck on his stick. However, the Moose got a great bounce when the puck went right to Burrows.

Manitoba continued to dominate play in the early going, outshooting the hosts nine to three just over seven minutes into the game.

The Moose kept up their dominance after San Antonio's Paul Healey received a hooking minor. Kesler and Heerema both had great scoring chances in close but were stopped by Scott.

That momentum carried on after the man advantage as Jimmy Roy blasted a shot that beat Scott low stick side. The puck slid underneath Scott's right skate to make it a 2-0 game.

The Moose thoroughly dominated the Rampage in the first period. In addition to the 2-0 lead, they had 14 shots to San Antonio's five.

San Antonio came out in the second with a complete reversal of their play from the opening frame.

With the Rampage sustaining some pressure in the Moose zone, Josh Green took a tripping penalty. Just as the penalty was about to expire, Ryan Jardine scored.

Ryan Kesler regained the Manitoba two-goal advantage three-and-a-half minutes after Jardine's marker, scoring on a rebound. Kesler's goal was assisted by Lee Goren and Kevin Bieksa.

Near the end of the second, Joel Kwiatkoski was robbed by Alex Auld. After making the initial save, Auld moved quickly from right to left and snagged Kwiatkoski's rebound attempt out of mid-air.

Overall, the Rampage turned their play around enough in the second to outshoot Manitoba 11-5. Overall, the shots after two were 19-16 in favour of the Moose. The visitors also held a 3-1 lead going into the final frame.

It didn't take long for San Antonio to draw within one in the third period. Paul Healey won the faceoff back to Joel Kwiatkowski, who blasted it past Auld. The goal came at the 11-second mark of the third.

Justin Morrison helped the Moose regain their two-goal lead 34 seconds later. Morrison redirected Jimmy Roy's shot, catching Rampage netminder Travis Scott going the wrong way.

Lee Goren scored the insurance marker less than four minutes later, 30 seconds into Manitoba's second powerplay of the night.

San Antonio took a final stab at a comeback attempt as the third period wound down. Joe Cullen scored his first goal since joining the Rampage from Edmonton.

With Scott pulled for an extra attacker, Kesler added an empty netter to make the final 6-3.
