Rockford Aviators News Release

WASHINGTON, PA - The baseball looked as big as a beach ball to Dusty Robinson tonight as the right fielder tallied five RBIs, a season high for an Aviators player, as the Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, defeated the Washington Wild Things 10-6.

The game was scoreless through the first three innings before the Aviators ripped off four consecutive hits to start of the fourth inning.

Brian Bistagne doubled to lead off the inning and came in to score on the first of Robinson's RBIs and then Robinson was driven in by a RBI single by Kenny Bryant. Edgar Corcino, who also doubled in the inning, was driven in when Ryan Breen grounded into a double-play as the Aviators took a 3-0 lead.

The Aviators poked another run across in the top of the sixth inning when Kalaika Kahoohalahala drove in Corcino to give the Aviators a 4-0 lead. Kahoohalahala would finish the night 3-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Wild Things cut the lead down to one when Will Beckwith sent a three-run bomb over the center field wall that scored Ryan Kresky and C.J. Beatty.

However, in the top of the seventh inning, Robinson had the first of his two home runs, a two-run shot that scored Tanner Witt to extend the lead to 6-3. Robinson added to his night with another two-run shot in the top of the ninth inning that scored Bistagne to make the score 8-3.

The two home-run, five RBI night by Robinson set two season highs for the Aviators. It was the first multi-home run game for an Aviators player this season and the highest RBI total for a single player since Cohl Walla racked up four RBIs back on June 1 against the Traverse City Beach Bums.

The Aviators tallied two more runs in the top of the ninth as Bryant raked a two-RBI double that scored Corcino and Kahoohalahala had a RBI single that scored Bryant from second.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Wild Things gave the Aviators all they could handle scoring three runs with two outs on the board. Jose Dore had a RBI double that scored Sam Montgomery who entered the game to pinch run for Jim Vahalik who had walked. Danny Poma and Kresky each struck out, but reached base anyway. Poma reached on an errant throw by Breen and Kresky after striking out on a wild pitch.

Beatty would drive in Poma with an RBI single before Gerardo Sanchez got Scott Kalamar to strike out swinging to end the game.

The Aviators will be back in action tomorrow night in the rubber match against the Wild Things beginning at 7:05 p.m. Eastern Time. The broadcast of the game can be heard on the Meridix Network and the link to the broadcast can be found at www.rockfordaviators.com.
