Otters' 10-Game Winning Streak against River City Snapped

(O'FALLON, MISSOURI) - The Evansville Otters (39-24) winning streak of 10 straight games over the River City Rascals ended on Thursday night with an 11-3 road loss at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.

It is the Otters first loss against River City since August 30, 2012.

Left-hander Conor Kerins (0-1) started for Evansville but allowed three runs in the first inning. Following a leadoff fielding error, River City scored on an RBI single from catcher Joe Staley, a bases loaded walk to outfielder Evan Crawford and a fielder's choice from infielder Hector Crespo.

After River City scored two more runs in the fourth, Evansville saw their deficit grow to five runs.

Losing by a handful of runs, Evansville cut into the lead with a home run from catcher Kolin Conner in the fifth. It was Conner's second home run this season. First baseman Nik Balog also added an RBI single later in the inning to bring the lead down to three.

However, River City would keep scoring. The Rascals scored six runs over the final four innings on their way to a 11-3 victory.

Kerins takes the loss after yielding eight runs (four earned) in 5.2 innings pitched.

Outfielder John Schultz finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a solo home run.

Infielder Phillip Wilson went 1-for-5, extending his hitting streak to 11 games.

Game three of the series will be on Friday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, Missouri. First pitch will be set for 7:05 pm CDT.

Evansville will have right-hander Trevor Walch (4-0, 1.80 ERA) on the hill against River City lefty Tommy Organ (3-1,3.12 ERA).

The game will be broadcast live on WUEV 91.5 FM. Announcer Mike Radomski will have the call beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 pm CDT.
