FLORENCE, Ky. - The Florence Freedom rallied for a run in each of the final two innings and picked up a 3-2 10-inning win against the Gateway Grizzlies Thursday night at UC Health Stadium.

With the score tied 2-2 in the 10th inning, Florence (26-37) rallied for the game-winning run without a hit in the inning. Adam Taylor led off with a walk, stole second base and advanced to third base on a Zak Blair sacrifice bunt. After Cole Miles reached on an intentional walk, Chance Ross brought in Taylor on a sacrifice fly to give the Freedom a walk-off win and snap a six-game losing streak.

Gateway (38-27) led the entire game until the ninth inning. Florence starting pitcher Chuck Weaver walked the first three batters of the game before allowing an RBI groundout to Landon Hernandez to make the score 1-0.

Hernandez gave the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning on a solo home run for his fourth of the series. It was the 10th of the season for Hernandez.

Ross picked up his first of two sacrifice flies in the sixth inning against Tyler Thompson, but the score stayed 2-1 until the ninth inning.

Thompson struck out 11 batters and allowed only one run on three hits in the first eight innings of the game to help the Grizzlies take a one-run lead into the ninth inning.

Thompson, who started the ninth inning, struck out Ross for the first out of the ninth. Buddy Sosnoskie singled against Thompson with one out which prompted a pitching change and brought in reliever Chris DeBoo (4-1). After walking Sam Eberle, DeBoo allowed the game-tying run to come in on a Jacob Tanis RBI single. He escaped the inning with a one-out bases loaded double play.

Thompson picked up a no-decision, despite allowing only two runs on four hits in eight and a third innings. He walked no batters and struck out a career-high 12.

DeBoo suffered the loss after allowing the game-winning run.

Gateway continues their six-game road trip Friday night at Florence, looking for the series win. Left-hander Kerry Kelley (2-4) makes the start for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 5:35 central time.
