Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Steve Martinson announced a series of player transactions on Friday, as the Hogs get ready for a two-game weekend at the Rockford MetroCentre. The IceHogs will face a pair of Central Division foes, including the Port Huron Flags tonight and the Muskegon Fury tomorrow night. Both games start at 7:05 p.m.
Rockford goalie Michel Robinson was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) for the third time this season, marking his fourth overall call-up of the campaign. In Robinson's absence, Andrew Joy was added back to the Rockford roster as the club's emergency backup.
Earlier this week, IceHogs center Billy Tibbetts was sent to the Chicago Wolves and signed by the AHL club. The Hogs have now loaned more free agent players (seven) to the American Hockey League than any other team in AA hockey. The seven players have been loaned a total of 16 times to the AHL.
In other transactions, center Preston Mizzi was returned to Rockford from Milwaukee. Mizzi has appeared in 12 games for the Ads, netting a goal and accumulating 10 penalty minutes. Mizzi paced Rockford in scoring during October, lighting the lamp 10 times. Since then, the centerman has appeared in five games for the Hogs.
Martinson also announced that the team has signed and added winger Paul Falco to the roster. Falco began the season with the Elmira Jackals, appearing in three games including the opening night game against the IceHogs. Falco is considered a rookie by league status despite skating in his third season in the pro ranks. Last season, Falco suited up for the Texas Wildcatters and Fresno Falcons of the ECHL, accumulating 4g-7a-11pts, 51 PIM's in 21 games.
Next Home Games: Friday, Dec. 9 vs. Port Huron Flags. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Hogs return home to face the expansion Flags for the first time. The first 1,000 fans 21-and-older will receive an IceHogs Jersey Koozie from Miller Lite and 13WREX.
Saturday, Dec.10 vs. Muskegon Fury. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The two-time defending champs come to Rockford for the first time this season. The first 1,500 fans will receive an IceHogs Tumbler Mug from McDonald's. Also, don't forget a Teddy Bear! The game is the Hogs Annual Teddy Bear Toss and after Rockford scores their first goal, fans can throw the bears onto the ice. All the stuffed bears will be collected and donated to local hospitals and charities for children.
