Trashers blank Frostbite 3-0 for 4th straight win

GLENS FALLS, NY--Sly Daigle tied Joe Dimaline for the most wins in UHL history with his 155th as hid 35 save effort led the Trashers to a 3-0 blanking of the Adirondack Frostbite in front of 2,127 at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Friday night.

Following a scoreless first period highlighted by a pair of fights between Blue Bennefield and Carlyle Lewis, the Trashers netted their first at the 14:01 mark of the second period as Drew Omicioli scored his 10th of the season from Mike Omicioli and Shawn Collymore. Prior to the goal, Lewis was assessed a game misconduct for a major charging penalty at the 8:20 mark, his 3rd major penalty in the game.

Alex Goupil opened the scoring in the 3rd period as he netted a shorthanded goal past Kris Tebbs at the 5:10 mark after he knocked in a rebound of his own initial shot. Jeff Daw assisted on the goal.

Daw ended up scoring the Trashers final goal as He went around Tebbs and shot into an empty net at the 14:45 mark, assisted by Goupil.

Danbury won their fourth straight game and improved their mark to 12-7-2 to close to within eight points of the Frostbite with two games in hand. The shutout was his first of the season and 13th as a professional. Tebbs stopped 29 of 32 shots in the loss for Adirondack, who have dropped two straight for just the first time this season.

The Trashers will face off in Glens Falls against the Frostbite on Saturday night at 7:35pm before returning home on Sunday afternoon to face Fort Wayne at 5:30pm. All fans are invited to skate with the players following the game and are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to the 2nd Annual Trashers Food Drive. The items will benefit the Salvation Army and Community Action in Danbury.
