Roberson Heads To Philly

OTTAWA - OF Chris Roberson has been recalled by the Philadelphia Phillies while IF Jesus Merchan and OF Shaun Boyd have been transferred to the Lynx roster from Double-A Reading.

Roberson, 27, was hitting .266 with 4 HR and 43 RBI in a team-leading 105 games for the Lynx this season. Roberson has accumulated the most at-bats in the International League (433). He is also tied for third in hits (115) and is seventh in the IL in runs scored (59). His 16 stolen bases lead the Lynx. Roberson made his Major League debut last season with Philadelphia, hitting .195 in 57 games.

Merchan, 25, appeared in three games with the Lynx before the All-Star break, hitting .385 one home run and two runs batted in. Merchan currently sits second in the Eastern League with a .330 average. He has hit 7 HR and 44 RBI in 81 games with the R-Phils. He is a career .280 hitter in his first eight professional seasons.

Boyd, 26, has spent most of the 2007 season with Single-A Clearwater where he hit .231 with 1 HR and 4 RBI in 10 games. He was hitless in four games with Double-A Reading. He split last season between Triple-A Memphis and Double-A Springfield, hitting a combined .247 with 3 HR and 28 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 108 games.
