Road Warriors Enter Big Weekend

Greenville, SC: Greenville aims for first place in the division as they play the Gwinnett Gladiators three times in a span of five days.

The Gladiators currently have a three point lead over the Road Warriors and have played one less game. The teams will meet for the eighth time this season on Thursday at 7 p.m. It is always a high octane and entertaining matchup between the two rivals. Adding to the excitement, Gwinnett acquired former Road Warriors Alternate Captain, Justin Bowers yesterday from San Francisco. Bowers is expected to play his first game with the Gladiators on Thursday. This season the eight games have featured 47 total goals and six fights. Six of the games have extremely tight and decided by two goals or less. The Road Warriors have a 4-3-1 record this season against the Gladiators. Brandon Wong leads the team against Gwinnett with five goals and three assists in eight games played. Greenville has had the recipe for good home cooking. In the past 11 games in front of Road Warriors fans, the team has gone 9-2-1 including two victories against Gwinnett.

"It is the two best teams in the conference that can score and play a tight game. It will be an entertaining game that limited mistakes will win the hockey game," said Head Coach Dean Stork. "These games will have everything a playoff game entails; a great atmosphere with emotion and passion from both teams."

On Friday, the Road Warriors travel to North Charleston to face the Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. The last time Greenville visited their foes from the Palmetto State they walked away with a dominating 6-0 victory.

The weekend concludes with a 7 p.m. start on Saturday against the Gladiators. Greenville has a promising 9-5-1 record on Saturday night games. This will be the final time the Road Warriors will host their most hated rival in the regular season.

The round of games against the Gladiators concludes on Monday in Gwinnett for an early 12:30 p.m. start. The Road Warriors will not play Gwinnett again until the final game of the regular season on March 30th.

Throwback Thursday returns and features $2 beers, hot dogs, pretzels and fountain drinks presented by 93.3 The Planet. Students who present their Student ID at the Box Office receive $5 tickets in the Value Green section.
