TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Having picked up points in each of their last four games, the Cyclones will migrate away from divisional play tonight as they welcome in the Elmira Jackals to U.S. Bank Arena. The Jackals have earned wins in the last two meetings with Cincinnati and hold a 2-1 edge in the season series. Each of the three match-ups this season have been decided by a single goal. Since 2006, the Cyclones have amassed an 18-13-1-3 record against their foes from the Big Apple State.
TONIGHT'S PROMOTION: Big Beer Tuesday / Neon Night - Fans 21+ can enjoy $2 24-ounce Labatt Blue and Molson! Plus, all fans are encouraged to dress in their finest neon-colored attire. We'll award a cash prize to the best outfit!
SCOUTING THE JACKALS: Despite having won four of its last six games, Dwight Mullins' club remains third in the Atlantic Division race - 15 points back of the Reading Royals. They have been recently decimated by call-ups, as six different players were promoted to the American Hockey League. Elmira's top two scorers, however, are still on the roster; Last year's ECHL Rookie of the Year Dustin Gazley leads the team with 40 points (11 goals, 29 assists) in 31 games and is tied for third in league-scoring. Artem Demkov is closely following him with 38 points (21 goals, 17 assists) and ranks third on the ECHL's goal-scoring list. With goaltender Marc Cheverie now in Triple-A, Maxime Clermont will see the bulk of the workload between the pipes. This season for Elmira, Clermont has earned a 7-6-2-1 record with a 3.63 goals-against average. He has earned wins in both of his meetings with Cincinnati in 2012-13 with a 2.49 GAA.
Heroes Are Everywhere: Cincinnati has continued to spread the wealth this year - with 14 different players earning game-winning goals. Josh Shalla leads the team in this category (although he's currently called up to the AHL). Mathieu Aubin, Mike Embach, Mike Pelech, and Garrett Wilson all have two such lamp-lighters.
Johnny Be Good: Cyclones rookie forward John McFarland continues to demonstrate next-level offensive talent. He has 25 points in his 22 games with Cincinnati since being assigned and leads the team with seven multi-point games. He is also the only Cyclone player to have a hat trick.
