@ Milwaukee (11/26): The Milwaukee Admirals turned the Peoria Rivermen's 1-0 lead into a distant memory as they scored the final four goals of the game to win 4-1 on Wednesday night at the Bradley Center. Milwaukee controlled much of the play early and out-shot the Rivermen 27-16 in the game and 20-11 over the first two periods. Marek Schwarz made 23 saves in his first action since his win on Nov. 15 over San Antonio. Jeff Cowan scored Peoria's only goal just 4:21 into the first period on the power play to give the Rivermen an early lead. The Admirals scored twice before the end of the period and put up two more in the second period for the 4-1 win.

vs. Rockford (11/28): Jonas Junland scored twice in regulation and Nikolay Lemtyugov scored twice in the shootout to give the Peoria Rivermen a 5-4 victory over the Rockford IceHogs on Friday night in front of 5,043 fans at Carver Arena. It was the first shootout of the season for the Rivermen in their 20th game. The Rivermen withstood a pair of IceHogs' comebacks and a barrage of shots in the third period to get to overtime and eventually the shootout. Ben Bishop made 35 saves, including 15 in the third period, and another four in the shootout to secure the win. While the IceHogs came into the game with the league's best power-play percentage it was the Rivermen who finished 3-for-6 on the man advantage. Rockford was held to just a 1-for-5 mark.

@ Rockford (11/29): Just one night after the Peoria Rivermen beat the Rockford IceHogs for the third time this season, the IceHogs returned the favor with a 5-2 decision over the Rivermen on Saturday night at the MetroCentre. Josh Soares scored for the second straight game and assisted on another to give him five points (two goals, three assists) in six games since joining the club from Alaska (ECHL). Rockford scored four times in the second period to build their lead up to 5-1 heading into the third. Ryan Reaves tipped home a Soares shot for the only goal of the third.

NEWS AND NOTES

Welcome Additions... Both Josh Soares and Ross Carlson scored their first goals as Rivermen over the weekend. Soares scored in back-to-back games and Carlson scored in just his second game with the club. With Alex Imbeault thrown into the mix, Peoria has three players signed to P.T.O's and they have combined for four goals and three assists all in the last six games.

Blast from the past...Jeff Cowan's goal on Wednesday was his first of the season and his first American Hockey League goal since the 1999-2000 season. He spent 47 games that year with the St. John Flames and finished with 15 goals and 10 assists.

27 Minutes...Thanks to Eric Neilson's three fights with Sean McMorrow on Saturday, he posted 27 penalty minutes in a game for the second time this season. He also accounted for 27 PIM on opening night (10/10) against Iowa.

NHL Update...There are currently five players on NHL rosters that have also spent time with the Rivermen this season. Steve Regier, Jeff Woywitka, Cam Paddock and Brad Winchester are all with St. Louis while Chris Conner is up with the Dallas Stars. All of the players have registered at least one point in the NHL with Regier (3-1-4) leading the way.

Last team to first shootout...It took 20 games but the Rivermen competed in their first shootout of the season on Friday night. In fact, the last two teams to have a game go past overtime both went to the shootout on Friday with Iowa beaten by Manitoba 4-3 in the breakaway competition.

Limiting the damage... Peoria has done a good job to limit the losses to two. They have lost back-to-back games on three occasions but have never let the streak stretch to three games. On the other side they have already put together two separate three-game winning streaks.

Wild, Wild West...The Rivermen will play three games against divisional foes before taking their show on the road with four games against North Division opponents. Peoria is 8-7-1 against the West and 3-2-0 against the North. They do not have a game scheduled against any of the 14 teams in the Eastern Conference.
