Rivermen Weekend vs. Reading Highlighted with Promotions

Peoria, Ill. (February 26, 2004) – The Peoria Rivermen (31-16-8, 70 points) of the ECHL host the Reading Royals (31-15-8, 70 points) on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28. The teams are deadlocked in third place in the nine-team Northern Division; Peoria has played one more game than Reading.

On Friday, Senior Account Executive Ralph Rashid will receive special induction into the Builders Division of the Rivermen Hall of Fame during the second intermission. Rashid – an 83-year-old native of Toulon, Illinois – has spent the last four seasons working with the Rivermen organization for a total of eight in professional hockey in Peoria. He started in Peoria professional hockey with the inception of the Peoria Prancers and was part of the 1984-1985 Peoria Rivermen International Hockey League (IHL) Turner Cup Championship.

It is East Peoria Community Night on Friday as well. East Peoria Mayor Chuck Dobbelaire will drop the ceremonial puck. Mayor Dobbelaire will represent the community of East Peoria, as the Rivermen recognize their businesses and merchants.

The choir from John L. Hensey and Beverly Manor Schools will sing the national anthem, and Assistant Principal Rich Fields will also drop a ceremonial puck.

It is also another Coca-Cola Finally Friday. Fans receive a 2-for-1 Upper Bowl admission when they present a Cherry Coke and Vanilla Coke can at the Carver Arena Box Office.

On Saturday, it is Caterpillar Night. The first 2,000 fans receive a Rivermen Pop-Up Chair, courtesy of Caterpillar.

The Peoria Rivermen are a member of the ECHL – America's Premier "AA" Hockey League.
