Rivermen Sign Matt Stefanishion To PTO

PEORIA, Ill. (November 18, 2009) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the club has signed right wing Matt Stefanishion to a professional tryout contract.

Stefanishion, 26, has played in 14 games this season for the Alaska Aces, the ECHL affiliate of the Rivermen and St. Louis Blues. He has nine points (six goals, three assists) to accompany 41 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 225 pound has accumulated 545 penalty minutes in 196 games over his three-plus professional seasons. He has 18 games of American Hockey League experience with Hershey (2006-07) and Hartford (2008-09).

A native of Daysland, Alberta, Stefanishion finished third in the ECHL in penalty minutes during the 2007-08 season with 260 split between Reading and Fresno. He attended training camp with the Manitoba Moose each of the last two years.

The Rivermen kick off a three-game road trip tonight in Houston at 7:05 p.m. They will travel to San Antonio on Friday and take on the Wolves in Chicago on Saturday. All games can be heard live on Hippie 101.1 FM or online through www.rivermen.net.
