Albany Devils News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons scored twice in the final two minutes of regulation to come from behind and defeat the Lowell Devils, 4-3, on Wednesday at the MassMutual Center. Chad Wiseman and Ryan MacMurchy scored 33 seconds apart to help Springfield rally and halt Lowell's five-game winning streak.

With the score knotted, 2-2, at 9:44 of the third period, Matt Taormina gave the Devils their first lead of the contest with a power play goal. The rookie defenseman picked off a Falcons' clearing attempt before skating down low and beating Devan Dubnyk with a low wrist shot.

Lowell could not hold onto its slight edge as Wiseman took a drop pass atop of the right circle and fired a laser that clattered off the crossbar and into the net. The Falcons then took the lead for good a half minute later when MacMurchy sent a shot from the far wall that bounced off of traffic in front and over the stick of Jeff Frazee.

Despite a late flurry with the extra attacker and 20 shots overall in the third period, Lowell would be unable notch the equalizer against Dubnyk, who finished the game with 39 saves.

Alexander Vasyunov tied the contest, 1-1, 4:48 into the second with a quick shot from the hashmarks for his third of the season.

The Falcons would take back the lead almost four minutes later on Colton Fretter's found the back of the net after a scrum in the crease. Louis Robitaille evened things up once again at 13:55 of middle frame, sweeping home a loose puck after Dubnyk had trouble controlling the initial shot from Nick Palmieri.

Springfield struck first with 2:36 left in the first after Frazee turned aside Colin McDonald's shot from the far dot, but couldn't stop Ryan O'Marra on the rebound. Frazee saved 24-of-28 shots as his personal three-game win streak came to an end.
