Peoria, IL (January 26, 2006) - Ticket Sales Manager Wendy Mitchell of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that the Rivermen are preparing for one of the most successful nights since joining the American Hockey League. The team has a variety of special events scheduled for both of its home games this weekend, and each game will feature the appearance of a special guest.

On Friday, January 27, the Rivermen will host the Peoria Air National Guard Team Poster Night. The first 5,000 fans to enter Carver Arena after the doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Friday will receive a Rivermen team poster, compliments of the Peoria Air National Guard. At 7:30 p.m., the Rivermen will then face the Western Conference-leading Houston Aeros in an important regular-season match-up of divisional rivals. The first intermission of the game will feature an on-ice swearing-in ceremony for several Air National Guard recruits. Highlighting the evening will be an appearance by "Sgt. Slaughter," who will be on hand to sign autographs and participate in the festivities.

The following day, the Rivermen will present the CATERPILLAR Fleece Blanket Night. The Rivermen have already sold over 6,100 tickets for this special event. That evening, the Rivermen will host the Grand Rapids Griffins at Carver Arena at 8:00 p.m., and the first 2,500 fans who enter the building after the doors open at 7:00 p.m. will receive a high-quality Rivermen fleece blanket courtesy of CATERPILLAR. The event will also feature an appearance by racecar driver Dave Blaney, who pilots the Bill Davis Racing-owned number 22 CATERPILLAR Dodge Charger that competes in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. From 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, Blaney will receive fans and sign autographs at no charge on the Carver Arena concourse, and his number 22 CATERPILLAR Dodge Charger show car will be on display on the Carver Arena concourse throughout the night.
