
Rivermen Goaltender Szuper Reassigned from Worcester

Peoria, Ill. (February 18, 2004) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that fourth-year goaltender Levente Szuper â on a two-way contract with the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Worcester IceCats â has been reassigned from the AHL club.
Since opening the 2003-2004 campaign with a 0-3-1 record, a 4.53 GAA and a .818 save percentage for the Rivermen, Szuper â a 5-foot-11, 175-pound native of Budapest, Hungary â has posted an 11-2-0 record with a 1.98 GAA and a .929 save percentage over his last 13 starts with one shutout (the ninth of his career). On the season, he has an 11-5-1 mark with a 2.52 GAA and a .907 save percentage.
On three separate occasions with the IceCats, Szuper â who backed up Atlantic City rookie Jake Moreland in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to Bridgeport â has seen limited action in three games, posting a 4.53 GAA and a .821 save percentage without a decision.
Szuper was signed by Worcester during the 2002-2003 offseason after spending three years in the Calgary Flames organization with the Saint John Flames (AHL). The 23-year-old has a 43-46-9 career record with Saint John with a 2.50 GAA and a .903 save percentage. He was selected by Calgary in the fourth round (116th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
"The Golden Jet" Bobby Hull â the former Chicago Blackhawk Great â will appear at Carver Arena from 7:30-9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, when the Rivermen host the archrival Dayton Bombers at 7:00 p.m.
It is also a Coca-Cola Finally Friday. Fans receive a 2-for-1 Upper Bowl admission when they present a Cherry Coke or Vanilla Coke can at the Carver Arena Box Office. Miss Hooters International "Erica Burgess" will also make an appearance during the game.
The conclusion of the Single Male Contest will take place with Rivermen defenseman Scott Crawford picking the winner from two female finalists. The winning female will then have an opportunity to choose between a date with Scott or a prize package.
The Peoria Rivermen are a member of the ECHL â America's Premier "AA" Hockey League.
