Bullies Rough Up Bakersfield 6-2

Atlantic City, NJ – Brian Fahey scored once and added four assists as the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies handed the Bakersfield Condors a 6-2 loss in front of 2,212 fans at Boardwalk Hall on Wednesday night.

Atlantic City took advantage of early opportunities, and opened up a 3-0 lead within the span of 2:33 of the first period. Scott Horvath scored twice and Stefan Rivard also tallied just six shots into the game. Jani Virtanen gave the Condors some life later in the first, when his power play blast slipped through G Jake Moreland to cut the lead to two. The Bullies outshot Bakersfield 12-6 in the first stanza.

Power plays continued to be the story on this night. The Boardwalk Bullies scored three times with the man advantage in the second period to take a commanding 6-1 lead. Fahey added a goal and two assists in the second period, and Shane Bendera stopped 16 of 19 shots he faced. The Bullies scored on each of their first four power play opportunities in the game.

Joe Watkins replace Shane Bendera at the beginning of the third period, after the starter made 25 of 31 saves through 40 minutes. Watkins stopped all 11 shots he faced in the final frame. Mike Barrie brought his goal scoring streak to five games with a power play tally in the final frame to make it 6-2, which was the final score. Tempers erupted in the final minute of the game, when three separate fights broke out and over 70 minutes in penalties were handed out.

The Condors head back to Trenton to play the Titans on Friday night at 4:35pm Pacific Time. The Condors defeated Trenton on Tuesday night 3-2.
