WICHITA, KS --- Mississippi RiverKings' forward Louis Dumont scored twice in a 15-round shootout, including the game winner, to back up Alexander Pechurskiy's 28-save effort that resulted in a 3-2 win at Wichita Wednesday, November 24th.

Wichita took the early lead in the first period, thanks to a power play goal scored by Jesse Bennefield, his seventh goal of the season at 8:18.

However, the RiverKings used a pair of goals in the second period to tie the game at 2-2 after forty minutes. Wichita took a 2-0 lead when Bennefield netted his second goal of the night and eighth of the season at 4:49 of the second frame.

But, the RiverKings got on the board when Nathan Lutz tallied his fifth goal of the year on the power play, assisted by Derek Landmesser and Jeff Christian at 10:15, as Mississippi got withinone at 2-1 Wichita.

Matt Summers tied it up later in the second period, backhanding a pass to him in the crease area past the Wichita goaltender for his sixth goal of the year, from Chris Richards and Christian at 17:01 for a 2-2 tie after two periods of play.

From that point, there would be no further scoring through regulation and the overtime period before the shootout began.

Matt Summers, Louis Dumont, and Matt Miller all scored goals in the shootout for the RiverKings, while Matt Robinson, Bobby Hughes, and Aaron Davis scored for Wichita. But after seven straight rounds without a goal, Dumont scored in his second go-around to give Mississippi a 4-3 lead in the shootout, followed by goaltender Alexander Pechurskiy's save on Troy Schwab as the final shooter.

Mississippi was out shot for the night by a 30-26 margin. Pechurskiy (3-2-0) stopped 28 shots in getting the win, while Wichita's Marc-Antoine Gelinas (4-2-1) made 23 saves in taking the shootout loss.

With the victory, the RiverKings have won two straight and now have a 7-8-0 record. Wichita is winless in its last four games (0-2-2) and has an overall record of 6-6-2.
