
RiverKings Take on Mudbugs Tonight

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League continue a four-game homestand tonight in the team's third meeting of the season against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Game time tonight at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven is 7:05 PM for the Berry Conference encounter. Tickets for tonight's contest are available through Ticketmaster or by visiting the DCC box office at 4560 Venture Drive in Southaven.
Mississippi comes into tonight's game with a record of 2-4-0, while the Mudbugs lead the Berry Conference standings with a 7-2-0 record in nine games of the 66-game regular season. The RiverKings are in a three-way tie for seventh place in the conference, while Bossier-Shreveport leads the conference by two points over second-place Allen with 14 points for the year.
Broadcast coverage of tonight's encounter will be available on WPGF-FM 87.7 "The Pig" with Media Coordinator Bob Bakken providing the play-by-play. Pre-game coverage starts the evening at 6:50 PM. This will be the third meeting of the season between the RiverKings and Mudbugs, with Bossier-Shreveport holding a 2-0-0 lead in the series. In the team's last meeting, Bossier-Shreveport rallied from a 1-0 deficit to claim a 2-1 victory in the RiverKings home opener on Saturday, October 16th.
The teams will meet next on Sunday, November 28th in a 4:05 PM matinee at the Century Tel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. Mississippi next hosts the Mudbugs on Saturday, December 18th in a 7:05 PM game at the DeSoto Civic Center.
With a sweep of games this weekend, the RiverKings can return to .500 hockey with one more home game to play before taking a Western road trip to Rapid City (November 12th), Colorado (November 13th), and back to Rapid City (November 16th). Mississippi meets Tulsa tomorrow night to complete the weekend schedule of games.
Saturday night, Mississippi was stopped on the power play for the first time this season in a 2-0 shutout loss to Rio Grande Valley. The RiverKings have scored seven power play goals in six games of the season.
Five players lead the RiverKings in scoring with four points each. Chris Richards and Nathan Lutz each have scored two goals and Matt Boyd and Matt Miller have assisted on four red-lighters this season. Derek Landmesser has scored one goal and added three assists for his four points for the year, thus far.
