TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The ninth of 17 meetings and the fifth of nine in Richmond. ‘Dogs are 3-5 vs. the Trashers, 2-2 at home. David Hymovitz has eight points vs. Danbury. Doug Christiansen and Jeff Daw have eight vs. Richmond. The Trashers are averaging nearly 43 shots a game vs. Richmond. The ‘Dogs are fourth in the East, one point behind Elmira. Danbury leads the East by five points over Adirondack.

LAST ACTION: Richmond edged Elmira 1-0 in a shootout Sunday here. Nathan Grobins made 29 saves to earn the shutout win. Mark Turner and David Brosseau scored in the shootout for the ‘Dogs. Danbury beat Ft. Wayne 2-1 on the road Sunday. Mike Bayrack and Jeff Daw scored for Danbury. Scott Stirling made 41 saves for the Trashers.

'DOG BITES: Richmond picked up goalie Brent Belecki from Muskegon. He is expected to join the club this weekend. David Hymovitz will represent the ‘Dogs at the UHL All Star Game. Nathan Grobins notched a shutout in his debut in net for the 'Dogs vs. Elmira Sunday. It was the 'Dogs first shutout of the season. That was Richmond's second 1-0 shootout win in club history. The 'Dogs ended a club record five game loosing streak with that win. Richmond is 5-0 when held to under 20 shots on goal. The 'Dogs played their third game in three nights and fourth in five Sunday following a 15.5 hour bus ride from Adirondack. Richmond arrived home at 2:30 for the 5 PM game. The 'Dogs were blanked in regulation Sunday for the second time this season. Richmond is one game into a seven game homestand. Richmond finished a run of seven games in 10 days Sunday. The 'Dogs are 8-1-2 in one goal games. The 'Dogs played with a full bench Sunday for the first time in eight games. Mike Dombkiewicz had the club's second "Gordie Howe" hat trick of the season (goal, assist, fight) Saturday at Adirondack. Ryan McIntosh run of eight straight starts in net ended Sunday. The 'Dogs added Grobins and rookie Brett Cross to the lineup Sunday from Winston-Salem of the SPHL. Cross has since returned to Winston-Salem. Trevor Senn and J.J. Wrobel remain on IR. Domkiewicz six game scoring streak ended Sunday. The ‘Dogs allowed 25 goals in four games prior to their shutout win Sunday. The ‘Dogs released goaltender Jeff Sanger following Sunday's game. David Hymovitz is tied for 14th in the league in scoring. Mark Turner is tied for 18th in points. He is tied for second in the league in shorthanded goals. Senn is still second in penalty minutes. Kyle Sheen leads UHL rookies in penalty minutes and is second in game-winning-goals by a rookie.

TRASHERS NOTES: The Trashers have the second best winning percentage in the UHL. Four Trashers (Bruce Richardson, Mike Bayrack, Nick Bilotto, and Scott Stirling) and coach Todd Stirling will represent Danbury at the All Star Game. The Trashers finish a five game road trip tonight. They are 2-2 on the trip. The Trashers lead the UHL in penalty minutes. They are second in shots per game. Stirling leads the league in goalie wins. John Morlang is on an American League call-up to Bridgeport. Brent Gretzky is on the 14-Day IR.

NEXT UP: Richmond hosts Danbury Wednesday at 7:35. The ‘Dogs are home Friday and Saturday vs. Adirondack. Game time both nights is 7:35. Saturday is Pack The Pound night with free t-shirts for all fans.
