
Mallards Drop Shootout to Wings

Moline, IL- In their third consecutive shootout game, the Mallards came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 decision vs. the Kalamazoo Wings. The Mallards did receive a point in the standings and are unbeaten in their last three (1-0-2).
After a scoreless first period, the Wings took a 1-0 lead on a shorthanded goal in the second period by Tim Turner. The marker was Turner's 10th of the 2004-05 season.
The Mallards answered back late in the third period. On a 5-on-3 power play, Joe Dusbabek scored for the second consecutive game. Dusbabek's fifth marker of the season tied the game at one apiece. Terry Hollinger and Mike Kompon received assists on Dusbabek's goal.
In the shootout, the teams were deadlocked at one shootout goal apiece after five rounds. In the first round of sudden death, Yannick Carpentier scored for Kalamazoo and the Mallards failed to respond. A crowd of 2,790 was on hand for the dramatic contest. With the shootout loss, the Mallards move to 14-15-6 on the year.
On Friday, the Mallards host the Missouri River Otters. It's Credit Union Night featuring a Thunderstick giveaway courtesy of The Bread Basket. Tickets are available at any of 10 participating Quad City Credit Unions. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at The MARK.
On Saturday at 7:00 p.m., the Mallards wrap up a four-game home stand vs. Elmira. It's Old Time Hockey Night 2 featuring the organ music of Chicago Blackhawks organist Frank Pellico. After the game, fans are invited down to the ice to skate with the Mallards. Tickets for all Mallards home games are available at The MARK box office or via phone at (563) 326-1111.
