Rockford IceHogs News Release
St. Charles, Mis.- The Rockford IceHogs opened a seven game stretch away from the Rockford MetroCentre Wednesday night with a 6-1 win over the Missouri River Otters at the Family Arena. The IceHogs received goals from six different goal scorers to pick up their third straight win.
Winger J.F. Dufour opened the scoring for Rockford with help from his line-mates Terry Harrison and Olivier Proulx. The Hogs cycled the puck in the Missouri zone and Harrison eventually found Dufour open in front of the net and the Hogs winger backhanded a shot over Missouri goalie Kevin Reiter at 7:30 of the first period.
Missouri would later tie the contest in the second frame. Center Jim Montgomery picked up an IceHogs clear out pass and skated in on IceHogs goalie Michel Robinson all alone to beat him five-hole at 7:03. Rockford responded just before the intermission to grab the lead back. This time Dufour and Harrison set Proulx up on a breakaway at the 19:00 mark for the 2-1 lead.
Rockford then blew up for four third period tallies. Winger Chris Gobert started the barrage at 7:26 when he flipped one by Reiter for a 3-1 lead. Center Brent Sullivan later netted his first goal in an IceHogs uniform at 10:36. Harrison the notched a power play goal at 12:44 before winger Jason Ralph finished the scoring at 13:47.
Robinson stopped 28 shots in the win and Rockford matched their win total on the road from all of last season with its 10 victory. Dufour, Harrison and Proulx each had a goal and two assists in the contest.
Next Home Game: Friday, January 28 vs. Flint Generals. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Come and check out the Jeff Gordon NASCAR during NASCAR Night with the IceHogs! The visit is the first by the Generals this season.
