
RiverDogs Cruise Past Shorebirds, 8-2

Charleston, S.C. - The Charleston RiverDogs used a four-run second inning to cruise past the Delmarva Shorebirds (14-15) 8-2 on Sunday night at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. Justin Dalles and Gabriel Lino each had two hits in the losing effort.
The RiverDogs powered onto the board in the first. Mason Williams pulled a home run, his second of the year, over the right-center field wall to give the RiverDogs a 1-0.
In the second, the RiverDogs added four runs. Francisco Arcia connected on a two-run double with the bases loaded to give Charleston a 3-0 lead. Ali Castillo followed with a Baltimore chop to left field to score Kelvin De Leon. Williams capped the four-run inning with a single to give the RiverDogs a 5-0 lead.
Shorebirds starter Miguel Chalas lasted just two innings. He allowed five hits and five runs.
The Shorebirds got on the board in the fourth inning. Justin Dalles blasted his first home run of the season over the right field wall. It was the tenth of his Minor League Baseball career.
Down 5-1 in the sixth, the Shorebirds added a run on a double to left field by Gabriel Lino to plate Dalles.
The RiverDogs tacked on runs in the sixth and seventh innings. In seventh, Tyler Austin hit a solo homer to center field against David Baker, who made his first appearances of the season for the Shorebirds.
Trent Howard followed Chalas and surrendered just three hits and one earned run over four innings. Baker allowed just one hit, the home run, in two innings in his debut.
Williams led the Charleston offensive attack with three hits and three RBIs.
The Shorebirds and RiverDogs play game three of the series on Monday night at 7:05pm. Right-handed pitcher Dylan Bundy (0-0, 0.00) is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
