Crawdads Hit Three Homers to Top Kannapolis

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 6, 2012) -- The Hickory Crawdads hit three home runs to erase an early deficit en route to a 5-3 win over the Kannapolis Intimidators on Sunday evening in front of 2,572 at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Kannapolis (12-17) dropped its seventh of eight games against Hickory (18-11) this season.

Jordan Akins broke a 3-3 tie with his solo shot in the sixth inning, and Zach Cone added an insurance run with his ninth inning home run, his sixth of the season and fifth against Kannapolis.

Hickory starter Santo Perez (2-1) earned the win, giving up three runs (one earned) in seven innings with with strikeouts. Greg Williams threw two perfect innings for the save (3). Kannapolis starter Scott Snodgress (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season, allowing four runs on five hits including a pair of home runs. Snodgress struck out three and walked three.

Kevan Smith put the Intimidators ahead with his first home run of the season, a solo shot in the first inning. Kannapolis added a pair of runs in the second inning aided by two errors by Hickory second baseman Luis Sardinas for an early 3-0 lead.

Crawdads catcher Joe Maloney knocked a two-run home run -- the first of his career -- to get HIckory on the scoreboard in the top of the third. Hanser Alberto added RBI-double to tie the game later that inning.

The Intimidators continue this four-game series against the Hickory Crawdads on Monday as Kannapolis right-hander Kevin Vance (1-0, 1.96) faces Hickory's lefty Will Lamb (0-2, 3.57).
