Asheville Tourists News Release

Tyler Massey was elevated to the two-hole in Joe Mikulik's line-up Sunday afternoon and Asheville's left-fielder responded to the move. Massey went 3-for-4 with two Home Runs, three runs scored, and three RBI's. Dan Winkler (3-2, 6.82) pitched five innings to earn the victory and the Tourists snapped a four-game losing streak with an 8-5 win over the Legends.

Lexington jumped out to a 3-0 lead by rallying in the third. Matt Duffy doubled home the games' first run and two batters later Mike Kvasnicka belted a two-run Home Run. The Tourists responded immediately with four runs in the bottom of the third.

Asheville loaded the bases with no outs and Harold Riggins brought home a run with an RBI fielder's choice. Jordan Ribera followed by plating two with a double into the right field corner. Ribera came home from second on an error by Lexington's second baseman John Hinson.

The Tourists added three more in the fourth; all by way of the long ball. Massey connected with a two-run shot and Riggins made it back-to-back round trippers with a solo blast to center. The Legends were able to score once in the fifth, but Massey answered in the sixth with another Home Run.

Lexington drew back within three runs on Hinson's solo Home Run in the eighth, but they were unable to make it any closer. Nelson Gonzalez worked the ninth and picked up the save for the Tourists by inducing a game ending double play off the bat of Brandon Meredith.

Luis Ordosgoitti (0-1, 14.73) took the loss for Lexington. Asheville roughed up the Legends starter by totaling 11 hits and seven runs through 3.2 innings. The teams will play game three of their four game set on Monday night. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
