Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Charleston RiverDogs have constantly strived to improve the fan experience over its nearly quarter century of team history and Charlestonians continue to take notice.

For the 14th consecutive season, the RiverDogs have been recently selected as the city's "Best Local Sports Team" among a poll by the readers of the *Charleston City Paper.*

"We are excited to once again to be named the 'Best Local Sports Team' by the fans and readership of *Charleston City Paper*," said RiverDogs President and General Manager Dave Echols. "The *City Paper *is a well-regarded publication in the area and we don't take this for granted as our fans continue to expect bigger things from us each season and they are the ones that cast the ballots year in and year out."

Along with being chosen as the best local sports team, the RiverDogs were also recently tabbed as the winner of the "Best Father/Son Outing" by the *Lowcountry Parent* Mom's Choice Awards and the runner-up in several other categories including the "Best Family Attraction/Outing," "Best Outdoor/Activity Venue," and "Best Parent/Child Outing."

As part of the *City Paper* voting, the RiverDogs' Director of Fun, Bill Murray, was selected as the critics' pick for "New Fashion Designer" for his William Murray Golf line of apparel.

Celebrating their 25th season as the RiverDogs, the club's "175th in dog years," the Charleston club continues to provide family entertainment for all ages. Each MUSC Health Family Sunday in the Holy City, the RiverDogs don the pinstripes as they honor the namesake of the city of Charleston while welcoming Lowcountry families into the ballpark with free parking and free admission for members of the MUSC Children's Health Kids Club, who also play catch on the field pregame, eat free at the ballpark, and run the bases postgame.

This season, the RiverDogs have already hosted several of their zaniest promotions, including providing a polychromatic spectacle of color powder during the seventh-inning stretch on "Joseph P. Riley, Jr. and the Amazing Technicolor Ballpark" and welcoming Doug E. Doug, the star of the 1993 film "Cool Runnings" for Jamaican Bobsled Night at the Joe. The club was the Class A recipient of the Bob Freitas Award, honoring the top overall operation at each minor league classification level, by *Baseball America *in 2017.

Charleston continues their homestand on Friday night, beginning a four-game, wrap-around series with the Lexington Legends, the Class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, at 7:05 p.m. Home Telecom Fireworks will follow the series opener on a night set to the scores of the composer John Williams.

RiverDogs single-game tickets, including options to the Riley Park Club, are now available for the 2018 campaign, the club's 25th season as the RiverDogs and their "175th season in dog years." Ticket information can be secured by contacting the box office at (843) 577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com/tickets.
