May 4, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Salisbury, MD: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 3-1 on Friday night to the Delmarva Shorebirds.
This series pins the teams with the top two records in the South Atlantic League against each other in a four game series. Each team holds the lead in their respective division.
Both starting pitchers were dominate on the mound. For the GreenJackets, Jason Bahr went six innings pitched, giving four hits and only two runs. Peter Lannoo then came in relief and gave up one run and three hits over two innings pitched.
This performance wasn't good enough as the GreenJackets were only able to muster up one run in the ballgame. The run came off the bat of Manuel Geraldo as he hit a home run to left field in the first inning.
In the bottom of the first inning, there was a collision on a fly ball to left field between Jean Angomas and Heliot Ramos. After the collision, Angomas stayed down and was taken in an ambulance to a local hospital. Unfortunately at this point, we can provide no further details on the injury to Angomas.
After the road trip, starting May 9th, the GreenJackets will be back home for a homestand against the Rome Braves. Wednesday night will be Big Beers, Brats, and BBQ night presented by Maurice's Piggy Park. The next night, we will have Thirsty Thursday presented by Scene Nightclub and Tribute to Nurses where we honor medical professionals all around the CSRA. Finally on Friday, we will have Dr. Rogers and Andrews Orthodontics patients celebration night at SRP Park. The game will also be Ladies Night, followed by kids running the bases presented by Moe's Southwest Grill at the conclusion of the game.
The fun doesn't stop there as the GreenJackets welcome the Greensboro Grasshoppers to town for a four game series. On May 12th, the GreenJackets will have Pink in the Park, State Farm Family Saturdays, Saturday concert series performance #3, postgame fireworks, and kids-run-the-bases presented by Moe's Southwest Grill. On the 13th, we will celebrate Mother's Day, as we give away Picture Frames to the first 1,500 guests presented by Augusta University. We will also have pre-game catch on the field and kids-run-the-bases presented by Moe's Southwest Grill. On the 14th, we will have Military Monday and reading program night #5. On the 15th, there will be Comfort Keepers Baseball Bingo and Education Day #2. Gates will open at 9 am!
