RiverBlades Edge Men-O-War

Mike Cirillo scored twice, and Terry Marchant added two assists as the Arkansas RiverBlades held on to defeat the Lexington Men-O-War 4-3 Friday night at Rupp Arena in Kentucky.

Eric Long and Jason Bermingham also added goals for the RiverBlades, as Arkansas earned their 30th victory of the season.

Eric Long opened up the scoring with his 14th of the season at 8:53 of the first period, assisted by Terry Marchant and Mike Sandbeck.

Then, in the second, Jason Bermingham reached the 30-goal plateau for the 2nd straight season, as he lit the lamp with his 30th at 1:24, from Ryan Coole and Garry Toor.

Lexington would cut the lead to 2-1 at 10:23, as Alexandre Mathieu tallied his 12th of the year set up by Jay Banach and former RiverBlade Ryan Fultz.

Mike Cirillo would come right back for the Blades and notch his 17th goal of the year from Buddy Smith at the 12:08 mark to make it 3-1.

However, Lexington would make it a one-goal game again just before intermission, as Brett Draney found the back of the net with his 9th of the season at 19:25 assisted by Ryan Fultz.

Then, in the third, Cirillo struck again for the Blades, getting his 18th from Damon Whitten and Terry Marchant.

Lexington would make it interesting on the power-play late, as Ben Storey scored his 13th of the year from Joe Vandermeer and Mark Smith to make it 4-3 at 18:22, but the Blades were able to hold on for the victory.

Lexington outshot Arkansas 37-20 for the game, and the Men-O-War were 1-for-5 on the power-play. The RiverBlades were 0-for-2.

Scott Fankhouser made 34 saves to get the win for Arkansas, and improved his record with the RiverBlades to 4-2-1.
