Bandits shutout Kingfish, 2-0

The Jackson Bandits shut out the Kingfish for the third time this season en-rout to a 2-0 victory at the Centroplex.

The teams skated to a scoreless first period although tempers flared throughout the stanza. During the period, 42 minutes of penalties were handed out alone.

Darryl Laplante opened the scoring early in the second period on a weird goal just 1:50 into the second period. Goaltender Jeff Blair made the original save but a Kingfish defenseman trying to push the puck into the corner but lost his footing and pushed the puck and Blair into the net. Jeff Bes and Brent Gauvreau added the assists on the goal.

Late in the third, John McNabb fired a centering pass under Blair to give the Bandits a 2-0 lead. Scott Kelman took a pass from Dave Stewart to set up the goal at the 13:37 mark of the third.

The Kingfish went 0-7 on the power play despite firing 13 shots on Adam Hauser during the man advantage. Jeff Blair falls to 5-20-5 on the season in the loss.
