
River Riders Comeback against Sock Puppets, Win 4-3

BURLINGTON, NC --- The Elizabethton River Riders defeated the Sock Puppets at Burlington Athletic Stadium Tuesday night 4-3. Third baseman Robin Fernandez (St.Thomas) and left fielder DJ Sullivan (Florence-Darlington Tech) hit a combined 6-for-9 with three RBI.
The River Riders (7-9) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a single by Fernandez to score second baseman Marcus Brown (OSU).
Elizabethton starter RHP Alex Brewer (Lincoln Memorial) was taken out of the fourth inning after facing three batters without recording an out, finishing with two earned runs in three innings pitched and three strikeouts.
Burlington (6-10) scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a no-out double by designated hitter Mason Speaker (TCU) before scoring on a wild pitch.
Trailing 2-1, the River Riders responded by scoring three runs in the top of the fifth with back-to-back-to-back RBI singles by Fernandez, Garrison Berkley (TCU), and Sullivan.
The Sock Puppets scored their final run on a double by right fielder Caleb Farmer (Colorado Mesa).
The River Riders will look to sweep the Sock Puppets tomorrow before heading to Princeton to play the WhistlePigs. First pitch is tomorrow at 7. Fans can listen to every Rider Rider game with the link below.
