Albany River Rats News Release
The Albany River Rats visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 7:05pm face-off this Saturday night. The River Rats return to Pepsi Arena for a 5:00pm face-off against the Hershey Bears on Sunday. The Annual Ronald McDonald House Spring Cleaning Drive continues & there will be a Season ticket-holder only post-game meet-n-greet with the players!
Rat Bites:
C Craig Darby recorded a season-high three assists on Sunday and ranks fifth in the AHL with 41 helpers during the 2003-04 season. The Albany Academy graduate is tied for seventh in the overall scoring race with 62 (21-41) points in just 68 games this year.
RW Frank Littlejohn notched his first AHL point with an assist on Friday night in Binghamton. The 27-year-old skated in one match-up with Springfield earlier this season and suited up for five contests with Rochester during the 2001-02 season.
RW Aleksander Suglobov returned to the lineup on Friday night in Binghamton after missing 34 games following wrist surgery. The winger posted 21 (10-11-21) points in 26 games prior to making his NHL debut with New Jersey on January 5th. C Steve Guolla scored in his season debut after missing the club's first 70 games of the year. The Scarborough, Ontario native shows 389 (157-232-389) points in 319 career AHL games, which includes 89 (37-52) in 91 games with Albany since 2001.

Saturday March 27th @ 12pm â "Rowdy" The Rat will be at Vietnam Memorial Rink for the North Berkshire Youth Hockey tournament. The Vietnam Memorial Rink is located at South Church Street in North Adams, Massachusetts.
River Rats Rewind: Week 24 - March 15, 2004 (1-2-0-0, 2pts)
March 16th â MTB 3 @ ALB 0 â LW Sergei Varlamov scored twice and G Alex Auld stopped all 26 shots on goal as the Moose earned their second shutout at Pepsi Arena this season. River Rats G Ari Ahonen stopped 19 of 22 shots and former Manitoba LW Steve Kariya matched a team-high with five shots during the game.
March 19th - ALB 4 @ BNG 5 â LW's Steve Kariya, Ilkka Pikkarainen & RW Tuomas Pihlman each posted a goal and an assist in the final meeting between the two clubs this year. RW Frank Littlejohn recorded his first AHL point with an assist and G Ari Ahonen stopped 32 shots as the River Rats finished with a 3-4-1-2 record against Binghamton this season.
March 21st â BRI 1 @ ALB 3 â LW Steve Kariya scored for the second straight game and C Craig Darby dished out a season-high three assists as the club snapped its nine-game losing streak. LW Joe Hulbig scored a power play goal for the second consecutive contest and G Ari Ahonen stopped 22 of 23 shots for his 12th victory of the 2003-04 campaign.
