MOOSE NOTES
In Friday's 5-4 overtime victory over the Syracuse Crunch, the Manitoba Moose scored three power play goals for the second consecutive game. They also scored three goals with the man-advantage the night previous in Toronto. It marked the first time all season the Moose have scored three power play goals in back-to-back games and only the fourth time this season (Oct. 11/03 vs. STJ's & Dec. 16/03 at CLE) they scored three in one game.
Four members of the Manitoba Moose recorded multi-point games in Friday's 5- 4 OTW over Syracuse (Jason King 2-1- 3, Nolan Baumgartner 0-3-3, Justin Morrison 2-0-2, Brandon Reid 0-2-2).
It marked the third time this season four members of the Moose had scored more than a point in a game. However, back on Feb. 5/04, five members of the Moose recorded more than one point in Manitoba's 5-2 victory over Cleveland, while six players scored more than one point in a game on Dec. 16/03 in a 6-1 win at Cleveland.
The Moose matched a season-high threegame winning streak this week with victories over Albany, Toronto and Syracuse on consecutive nights. The three straight wins were set three previous times (11/15-22, 12/16-19, 01/31-02/06, 3/16-present). In two previous seasons, the longest winning streak establshed by the teamwas just four games.
Alex Auld's recall to the Vancouver Canucks Thursday marked the end of his streak of 14 consecutive starts. The streak matched the second highest number of consecutive starts by a goaltender with Fred Brathwaite. Brathwaite started 14 straight from February 7 to March 9, 1997. The most number of consecutive starts was set earlier this season when Tyler Moss started 17 in a row while Auld was in Vancouver. During the 14 games, Auld finished with a 7-4-2 record with a 1.95 goals-against average and .930 save percentage in just under 800 minutes of work.
Including Sunday night's game against Rochester where Manitoba went 2-for-5, the Moose have eight goals in their last 16 power play opportunities (50%).
Moose captain Dallas Eakins played in his 600th American Hockey League contest Thursday against Toronto. Eakins has scored 27 goals and aded 107 assists for 134 points to go along with 1021 penalty minutes with Moncton, Worcester, Springfield, Binghamton, New Haven, St. John's, Chicago and Manitoba.
In their two visits to Albany this season, the Manitoba Moose did not allow a single goal. Prior to Tuesday's 3-0 shutout win over the River Rats, Manitoba's last shutout on the road was a 4-0 win by Tyler Moss back on Dec. 17/03.
