
River Cats set club win record with victory in final home game of season

The Sacramento River Cats (91-49) won their 91st game -- a new club record -- on Thursday with an 8-2 victory over the Tucson Sidewinders (70-70). The Cats broke a 1-1 tie with a seven-run fourth inning, giving them an 8-1 lead. RHP Justin Duchscherer (14-2) earned the win, allowing just 2 ER on 6 H in 6.2 IP. 2B Esteban German led the Cats' offense with 2 H. LF Mike Edwards had a team-high 3 RBI.
The River Cats will travel to Las Vegas tomorrow to begin their final series of the regular season. They will begin the postseason on Sept. 3. Earlier today, River Cats first baseman Graham Koonce was named the league's MVP and manager Tony DeFrancesco was named the PCL's Manager of the Year.
