Metairie, LA. -- Bill Selby was three for four with three RBI to lead the Memphis Redbirds (63-77) to a 5 to 1 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs (69-72) on Friday Night at Zephyr Field in front of 8,968.

The game was scoreless until the fifth inning as Jon Nunnally hit a solo home run off Zephyrs starter Bob Scanaln. The home run was Nunnally's 24th of the season. Selby had an RBI single in the sixth and a two run single in the seventh as the Redbirds improved to 8-5 this season against the Zephyrs.

Josh Pearce (3-3) picked up the win for the Redbirds pitching seven innings allowing no runs, five hits and striking out two. Scanlan (1-9) suffered the loss pitching five innings allowing one run on three hits while walking two. Royce Huffman, Eric Bruntlett and Colin Porter each had two hits in the defeat.

The series with the Redbirds continues on Saturday at 6:05 PM. Saturday is Ladies Night with Females 18 and over getting in for $5.00 and having a chance to win a ¾ carat diamond in a post game dive into the pool. The ladies can also win a date with Ian from Temptation Island. Ladies prize packs will also be given away during game. The Chee Weez will perform in a post game concert. Former LSU Tiger Randy Keisler (2-3, 5.01) is scheduled to start for the Zephyrs and Jason Ryan (8-6, 2.82) for the Redbirds.
