
River Cats Power Past 51s, 12-5

West Sacramento, Calif. - Daric Barton, Grant Green, and Michael Taylor all homered and helped lead the River Cats as they beat the Las Vegas 51s 12-5 for U.S. Bank Sunday Funday at Raley Field.
The River Cats plated eight runners in the second inning led by Barton's fifth home run of the season. Adam Rosales and Kila Ka'aihue both doubled to continue the streak in the second inning.
Sacramento's pitching staff held Las Vegas to only one run into the eighth inning to help the River Cats improve their record to 57-38. Starter Brad Peacock allowed only one earned run off four hits and three walks in his six innings to earn the win.
Justin Souza gave up two runs in the eighth, while Chris Ray gave up a two-run homer in the ninth inning but struck out 51s Jonathan Diaz to seal the River Cats victory.
Leading the 51s 9-1, Green's solo shot in the seventh inning extended the River Cats advantage to nine with his home run over the left field wall. Souza allowed two runs in the top of the eighth inning but Taylor knocked in his eighth home run of the season with a two-run homer to increase the River Cats lead to12-3.
The River Cats recorded 14 hits led by Josh Donaldson who went 4-for-4 with an RBI. Taylor finished the game with a home run and went 3-for-3. Ka'aihue, Taylor, Barton each recorded three RBIs while Rosales and Green recorded one each. Eric Sogard finished with two hits.
With the win, Peacock improves his record to 7-6 this season as he struck out eight batters in six innings to earn the win. The righty gave up a home run to Yan Gomes in the sixth inning with two outs but lowered his ERA from 7.12 to 6.75 in Sunday's win.
The River Cats are back at Raley Field Friday, July 20 when they host the Tucson Padres for Peace, Love & Baseball during Toyota Family Value Friday night. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. to kick off the four-game homestand.
