Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-Charles Brewer delivered a quality start for the Aces Saturday night, but a two-run Salt Lake eighth inning spoiled Reno's lead and pushed the Bees to a 4-3 victory at Aces Ballpark.
Josh Bell rapped a two-run triple down the right field line in the sixth inning, flipping a one-run deficit into a one-run Aces lead. The score stayed at 3-2 until the eighth, though, when Paul McAnulty hit a two-run home run that gave Salt Lake the lead back for good. Reno put the tying run at second base in the ninth on a Cole Gillespie double off the wall, but the Aces would get no closer.
Brewer took a hard-luck no decision, scattering three runs-two earned-on four hits over seven-plus innings. Joe Paterson (2-2) took the loss after surrendering McAnulty's homer in the eighth.
The win went to Salt Lake reliever Ryan Brasier (3-1), who worked 2.1scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Bees starter Trevor Bell dealt five innings, allowing just one unearned run on three hits over five frames.
At the plate for Reno, Bell led the way with two hits and two runs driven in. Adam Eaton singled twice, marking his seventh-straight multi-hit effort.
The series comes to a close Sunday afternoon at Aces Ballpark. RHP Barry Enright (7-6, 6.20 ERA) toes the slab for Reno, while Salt Lake will counter with LHP Greg Smith (4-6, 4.20 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, and it'll be a Renown Children's Hospital Family Funday and Save Your Skull Day presented by Kohl's Cares and Renown Children's Hospital, where fans 12 and under will receive an Aces mini helmet and a scoop of ice cream.
Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
