Tonight's Game-- The RedHawks enter their final 2012 meeting with New Orleans seeking a win to split the current series as well as the season series when they face the Zephyrs at 6:05 p.m.

Last Night-- The Zephyrs used two big innings and strong pitching performances to beat RedHawks 8-0. The Zephyrs pounced for five runs in the second inning, highlighted by a three-run homer by Kevin Mattison. The score stayed 5-0 until a bases-clearing double by Luke Montz in the eighth. New Orleans pitcher Elih Villanueva (6-4) kept the RedHawks in check throughout six strong innings. After giving up four hits in the first two innings, Villanueva gave up just two hits and one walk over the next four innings. He combined with Juan Oviedo and Robert Ray to toss the Zephyrs' eighth shutout of the season. The RedHawks were limited to seven hits, with one for extra bases, and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Starter Armadno Galarraga (2-2) settled down after the rough second inning and got through five, but ended up taking the loss.

Tonight's Probable Pitchers-- Brett Oberholtzer looks to rebound after a rough final start before the break...Saturday at Zephyr Field, Oberholtzer allowed seven runs and 12 hits over four innings...He became just the second pitcher in Zephyr Field history to allow five homers in one game (Kip Gross, 2000)...Through his first five Triple-A starts, he's allowed four or more runs five times...All of those instances were on the road, and his only home start was his best with the RedHawks...Only July 2, he held Memphis to one run over 6.1 strong innings...Prior to his promotion, Oberholtzer was 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA in four June starts for Double-A Corpus Christi...New Orleans will turn to All-Star Tom Koehler to try and lead them to a series win...Koehler is tied for third in PCL in wins (9), ranks fourth in strikeouts (96), and sixth in ERA (3.54)...He has won both of his previous starts, including last Saturday against the RedHawks, allowing two runs over 5.1 innings...In two starts against OKC, Koehler is 1-0 and has allowed four runs and 13 hits over 12.1 IP...Despite the great season, Koehler has struggled on the road, posting a 5.54 ERA (1.45 at home)...In 18 starts, he's only had two no decisions...Koehler pitched a scoreless fifth inning in the All-Star Game Wednesday, registering a pair of strikeouts.

Blanking Bummer-- Last night the RedHawks were shutout for the sixth time this season and for the fourth time since June 13. It's the first time they've been shutout at home since August 13, 2011 against Colorado Springs.

Roster Update-- After Jed Lowrie and Jason Castro were placed on the DL earlier today by the Houston Astros, they purchased Carlos Corporan's contract and activated Marwin Gonzalez off the DL, thus ending his rehab assignment with the RedHawks. To fill the void, catcher Jay Fernandez was added from Double-A Corpus Christi, where he was hitting .325 since the end of May.

Angel in the Infield-- Angel Sanchez is on a season-best nine-game hit streak, going 13-for-30 (.433). He has collected at least two hits in three of his last six games.

Shuck-tacular-- J.B. Shuck is on a season-best six-game hitting streak, going 7-for-15 (.467). What makes it more impressive is that he's only started twice during the streak and has had two or less at-bats four times.

Bases Loaded Bashers-- During this series, the RedHawks have gone 4-for-4 with seven RBIs with the bases loaded. They're now hitting .380 with the bases full for the season, ranking third-best in the league.

Two-Out Thrashers-- 15 of the RedHawks' last 18 runs have scored with two outs.

Close Calls-- Each of the RedHawks' last five wins have come by one run. They have played in the second-most one-run games in the PCL this season, and their 18 wins by a single tally are the third-most in the league.

Great Divide-- Four of the RedHawks' last six losses have been by seven or more runs. They had lost just two games by seven or more runs all season before the recent stretch.

Not Respecting Boundaries-- The RedHawks have tied a season-long streak by allowing at least one homer in nine straight games. They've surrendered 20 during the streak, and the 21 given up in July is the most in the PCL.

Out of the Ordinary-- Over 14 games, the RedHawks are hitting .305 against the Zephyrs. The rest of the PCL only hits .253 against them. The Zephyrs' ERA against the RedHawks is 4.90, but 3.81 against the rest of the league. On the other hand, the Zephyrs hit .296 against the RedHawks but .257 against everyone else.

Against the Zephyrs-- Today marks the conclusion of the 2012 season series...New Orleans own a slight advantage at 8-7...It's also the final contest of nine straight games between the squads, with each winning four so far...Nick Green is hitting .423 with four homers and 15 RBIs...Mike Cervenak has hit safely in all 15 games, hitting .349 with five homers and 20 RBIs...He has three homers and 22 RBIs over his other 43 games... The Zephyrs have hit 19 home runs over their last eight games against the RedHawks...They have hit 26 homers in 15 games against OKC, but have hit only 73 homers in their other 79 contests...Angel Sanchez has hit .422 against the Zephyrs with eight RBIs over 11 games...New Orleans has scored first in eight of the last nine games, and has scored in the first or second inning seven times.
