West Sacramento, Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats snapped a two-game winning streak as they fell to the Memphis Redbirds, 8-2, on Friday night at Raley Field. Outfielder Doug Clark led the Cats offense going 0-for-2 and drove in both Sacramento runs on 2 sacrifice flies. Centerfielder Charles Thomas went 2-for-2 on the night with a triple and perhaps the defensive play of the year for the River Cats on a deep fly ball to centerfield (clip attached). Starter Ben Fritz took his 4th loss of the season giving up 8 hits, 5 runs (all earned), 1 home run, 2 walks and striking out 3 in 6 innings of work. Shawn Kohn and Brandon Puffer combined to allow 3 more runs in 3 innings of relief. With the loss, Sacramento falls to 61-53 and 12 games behind the first place Tucson Sidewinders.
