Portland Beavers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Sacramento River Cats got solo home runs from three different players as they snapped the Portland Beavers' five-game winning streak with a 7-2 victory Wednesday night at PGE Park.
A night after one of their most well-rounded wins of the year, the Beavers (36-38) were limited to just four hits, while the River Cats (46-28) amassed 12.
Mark Teahen and Dan Johnson each had two hits and two RBIs, leading a group of five River Cats with two hits on the night.
Eric Cammack (2-2) got the win after providing 3.1 innings of relief work.
Nick Swisher's solo home run with two outs in the first and Johnson's one-out job off Portland starter Chris Oxspring in the second were good enough for a 2-0 Sacramento lead.
Xavier Nady cleared the wall in left field with a solo homer of his own in the second and tied the game with an RBI single that scored Jon Knott in the third.
Sacramento regained the lead when Adam Morrissey led off the fifth with another home run against Oxspring, who came into the start, his eighth of the season, with no home runs allowed in 33.0 innings pitched.
Matt Watson led off the seventh with a double and later scored to make it 4-2 on Graham Koonce's sac fly in foul territory in left field. Later in the inning, Teahen hit his second double of the night to score two more and up the River Cats' lead to 6-2.
Sacramento scored again in the ninth when Johnson's RBI single to right scored Steve Stanley, who came in to pinch run for Koonce.
Oxspring (3-2) worked 4.2 innings, giving up all three of his runs on home runs, while striking out five.
The Beavers and River Cats meet up in the third game of the series, Thursday night at PGE Park.
