The Sacramento River Cats (57-33) beat the second-place Las Vegas 51s (49-40) 13-7 Saturday at Raley Field in West Sacramento, Calif. The Cats jumped out to a 13-1 lead in the first four innings, before the 51s scored six of their seven runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. RHP Mike Wood (5-1) earned the win for Sacramento, allowing 5 R (4 ER) on 7 H in 6.0 IP. LHP Victor Alvarez (3-3) took the loss for Las Vegas. He recorded only two outs in the first inning before he was removed from the game, having allowed 6 ER on 4 H.
The River Cats recorded 13 H in the win. Five Sacramento players recorded 2 H each. 3B Luis Lopez led the Cats with 5 RBI. He and DH Graham Koonce homered in the game. With the win, Sacramento now leads Las Vegas by seven-and-a-half games in the PCL's South Division. They are 26-12 in 38 games at Raley Field.
