Rivalry Heats Up Ice This Weekend

The Pensacola Ice Pilots finished up the weekend 0-2-1 with a loss in Gwinnett at the Arena in Gwinnett Center on Saturday night. All Ice Pilot goals were scored on the power play by Brendan Cook, Bobby Cunningham and Adam Courchaine. Sean Fields (GWI) was the winning goalie stopping 23 of 25 shots during regulation time. Todd Ford (PEN) stopped 45 of 48 shots.

Far from home, the Phoenix Roadrunners defeated the Ice Pilots Friday night 4-3. Nick Lindberg scored his 11th goal of the season in the first period with Adam Courchaine (16) and Brendan Cook (15) both scoring in the second period. Michael Mole (PHO) was the winning goalie stopping 12 of 16 shots. Todd Ford (PEN) stopped 44 of 47 shots.

Thursday night the Ice Pilots were defeated in a thrilling 3-2 overtime loss against the Roadrunners at the Hangar. A power play goal by Adam Courchaine and an unassisted goal by Luke Fulghum tied up the game for the Pilots, who kept the game even until the end of regulation time. The overtime goal was scored at the :30 second mark by Jake Riddle of the Roadrunners. Shots were evened up at the end of the game with Michael Mole (PHO) as the winning goalie with 24 of 26 saves.

Ice Pilots host the Florida Everblades this Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 PM. Friday night is Scout Night' at the Hangar. There will be a full team autograph session following the game on the upper concourse. Saturday night is Medical Night'. The Ice Pilots begin a four game road trip following this weekends games.

Tentative Practice Schedule this week: The Ice Pilots will practice at the Civic Center on Tuesday at 10 AM. Wednesday the Pilots have an off ice workout and Thursday the team will have a practice at 6 PM. The Ice Pilots will have a pre skate on Friday morning at 10 AM and play Florida on Friday and Saturday night. The Ice Pilots will have Sunday off b efore starting their four game road trip next week.

Ice Pilots in the Community: The Ice Pilots are out and about this week in Pensacola. Thursday, several players will be volunteering at the Senior Health Expo at University Mall from 12 PM - 3 PM. Post game Friday night the entire Ice Pilots team will be signing autographs on the upper concourse. Saturday afternoon, IceMan will be at the Junior Achievement Mardi Gras Bowl at 12:30 PM & 3 PM. The event is being held at Cordova Lanes.

Individual Game Tickets Available: Fans can purchase individual game tickets for Ice Pilot home games in person at the Pensacola Civic Center Box Office, at any Ticketmaster location, charge by phone at 434-7444, or through the Ice Pilots Official Website at www.icepilots.com. Vote for New York Nick's "Ten Year Anniversary Team" presented by the Pensacola News Journal by voting at www.icepilots.com and at Ice Pilot home games at the Customer Service table behind Section 107.

Fans will be able to vote for three forwards, two defenseman, one goalie and one coach who have played and coached for the Ice Pilots since the inaugural season. The voting will end on February 21. The team will be announced on March 18 when the Ice Pilots play the South Carolina Stingrays at the Hangar.

Vote for Papa John's Pizza "Top Ten Moments" in Ice Pilots history presented by WEAR TV 3 by voting on www.icepilots.com and at Ice Pilot home games at the Customer Service table behind Section 107. The voting ends on February 21. Sports Director Dan Shugart from WEAR TV 3 will announce the Top Ten Moments" live on the Channel 3 News.

Barnes Ace Hardware and Feed are sponsoring the Ice Pilots leading scorer this season. Throughout the season, the team will be updating fans with the leading scorer through weekly releases and on www.icepilots.com. At the end of regular season, Barnes Ace Hard ware will present a trophy to the top Ice Pilot; center ice. Adam Courchaine is at the top of the list for the Ice Pilots will 34 points. Brendan Cook is close behind with 31 points followed by Luke Fulghum with 27. Nick Lindberg ends up the list with 24 points.

And the GEICO "Three Stars of the Game" are...Geico once again is sponsoring the Ice Pilots Three Stars of the Game on the Ice Pilots Hockey Network and at every home game. Listen for the Three Stars of the Game at the end of every game and catch a Three Stars t-shirt from your favorite Ice Pilot as he celebrates his accomplishment center ice.

At the end of the Ice Pilots regular season, Mr. Hank Dousharm of Geico will present the Ice Pilot player with the most points a trophy. The Geico Three Stars of the Game will be updated in each weekly release and on www.icepilots.com.
