LAS VEGAS - A much-anticipated match-up between the two best teams in the ECHL turned into a one-sided affair, as Dan Tudin scored a hat trick to lead a 7-1 Las Vegas victory over Alaska before 4,705 Tuesday night at Orleans Arena.

Tudin's first two goals came on the power play, at 3:19 and 8:17 of the opening period, to give the Wranglers an early advantage. But the Aces moved within 2-1 on Barrett Heisten's 21st goal of the year, and the period ended with the shots even, 9-9.

In the second period, Alaska seemed to wear down, and Las Vegas seized control of the game at the midway point. Chris Stanley dislodged the water bottle atop Matt Underhill's net at 9:51, and when Marco Peluso scored off the rush two and a half minutes later, the Wranglers were suddenly in command at 4-1. Scott Schoneck opened the gap to 5-1 in a delayed penalty situation with 2:08 left in the period.

Tudin completed his hat trick at the 6:56 mark of the final period, and Matt Dzieduszycki capped a three-point night with his 25th goal of the year on a Vegas power play with 3:43 remaining. The Wranglers out-shot the Aces 15-6 in the decisive second period and 33-23 for the game. Las Vegas scored three power play goals in eight tries against Alaska's top-ranked penalty killing unit.

The Aces, who went 0-for-8 on the power play while seeing their nine-game winning streak snapped, still lead the West Division by three points over the second-place Wranglers with a 36-7-3 record heading into this weekend's three-game series in Anchorage against the Phoenix Roadrunners, who reside in last place in the West but have won five straight going into Friday's opener at Sullivan Arena. The Friday and Saturday night games will begin at 7:15 p.m., with the KeyBank Sunday "Skate with the Aces" finale set for 5:05 p.m. All Alaska Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com. In addition, all home games and selected road contests will be available on a pay-per-view basis on the internet, courtesy of B2 Networks.
