Rios Dazzles, Green Homers in 4-0 Win

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Yacksel Rios threw 6.1 scoreless innings and the BlueClaws blanked Greensboro 4-0 on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Rios (6-1) pitched into the 7th inning for the third time in his 12 starts this year and gave the BlueClaws their 4th win in their last 6 games.

The BlueClaws (23-36/50-78) scored three runs in the third inning. Zach Green opened the scoring with his 5th home run of the season, and his first long ball since June 30th.

Dylan Cozens added an RBI single and Willians Astudillo had an RBI double.

Lakewood added to their lead when Malquin Canelo, who had singled, scored on a wild pitch.

Chris Sadberry (3-1) took the loss for Greensboro (36-25/80-51), allowing three runs in five innings of work.

Willians Astudillo had two more hits for the BlueClaws and is now 32-56 in his last 18 games. He has taken the league lead in hitting at .337 with nine games to go. He is bidding to become the second BlueClaws player (2006 OF Michael Spidale) to win a batting title.

The shutout was Lakewood's 6th of the season and their 2nd in their last three games.

With an attendance of 6,543, the BlueClaws are now within 5,702 fans of 6-million.

Phillers: Before the game, the BlueClaws and Phillies announced an extension of their Player Development Contract that keeps the BlueClaws as a Phillies affiliate through at least the 2016 season.

The series continues on Saturday night. RHP Ranfi Casimiro (5-9) throws for Lakewood opposite RHP Domingo German (8-3).
