Sand Gnats Release 2015 Schedule

Savannah, Ga.- The Savannah Sand Gnats, the Class A Affiliate of the New York Mets, have released their 2015 South Atlantic League Schedule. Savannah will play their first home game on Thursday, April 16, against the rival Charleston RiverDogs to start a four-game series at Historic Grayson Stadium. The opening homestand will conclude with a three-game set against the Rome Braves.

The Gnats will open the season on the road on Thursday, April 9, in Charleston, WV, to face the West Virginia Power for a four-game set before travelling to Rome to wrap-up the first road trip.

Highlights of the 2015 schedule include an Independence Day weekend matchup on Friday, July 3, against the Augusta GreenJackets. The schedule also features 13 Fireworks nights and 12 world famous Thirsty Thursdays.

In the Southern Division, the Asheville Tourists will visit Savannah for 13 games over four series, the Charleston RiverDogs for 12 games over three series, the Augusta GreenJackets for 11 games over three series, the Lexington Legends for nine games over two series, the Rome Braves for six games over two series and the Greenville Drive for four games over just one series.

Northern divisional opponents, the Delmarva Shorebirds, the Lakewood BlueClaws, the Greensboro Grasshoppers, and the Kannapolis Intimidators will all visit Savannah for one series each.

The Grasshoppers have not visited Savannah since 2012.

The 2015 season will mark the first time the Hickory Crawdads have not visited Savannah since 2006.

Savannah will hit the road to visit each divisional team in the Rome Braves, the Charleston RiverDogs, the Greenville Drive, the Asheville Tourists, the Augusta GreenJackets, and the Lexington Legends, as well as northern divisional teams the West Virginia Power, the Hickory Crawdads, the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Hagerstown Suns.

When the Sand Gnats visit Hagerstown in July, it will mark the first time the two teams have met for regular season play in over 10 years. The two teams did face off in the 2014 postseason when the Gnats bested the Suns, 3-1, for the SAL title.
