Rincon Homers Again, But Claws Fall 8-5 in Hudson Valley

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Hudson Valley scored four times in the first inning and held off a BlueClaws rally, topping Jersey Shore 8-5 on Thursday night from Heritage Financial Park.

The BlueClaws (20-16) went to Hudson Valley (18-15) on an 11-game win streak but have dropped the first three games to the Renegades this week.

Hudson Valley jumped out to a 4-0 lead off Estibenzon Jimenez (2-5) in the first inning. Jesus Rodriguez dobuled home the game's first run. Another scored on an error. Nelson Medina singled home a run as well with another scoring on a balk.

Jace Avina then hit his third home run of the season, a two-run shot in the bottom of the second to give the Renegades a 6-0 lead.

The BlueClaws scored the next five runs, starting with an Otto Kemp RBI double in the fourth. Bryan Rincon, who hit his first homer of the year on Wednesday, hit a three run shot in the fifth to cut the lead to 6-4. Erick Brito singled home a run in the sixth to make it a 6-5 game.

The Renegades, however, added a Jared Serna home run, his sixth, and Rafael Flores RBI single in the sixth off Charles King for an 8-5 lead. Mason Vinyard and Joel Valdez combined to get the last nine outs, with Valdez getting the final seven for his second save.

Daniel Harper threw two scoreless innings in relief for Jersey Shore. Jimenez was charged with six runs, five earned, in four innings to take the loss.

Kemp had two doubles and William Bergolla two hits in the loss.

The teams continue their series on Friday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Eiberson Castellano starts for the BlueClaws.
