Prince George, BC - Riley Heidt and Team Canada are on their way to the quarter-finals at the IIHF U18 World Championships in Zurich, Switzerland. Canada capped off their round-robin schedule with a victory over Czechia by an 8-3 score. Heidt contributed one assist in the win.
Heidt joined the Canadian roster mid-way through the preliminary round after his season with the Cougars completed on April 19th. Once Heidt found out he was going to be playing at the U18's shortly after his WHL season ended, he said things were quite a whirlwind, "When I found out I had the opportunity to come here, I jumped at the chance. It has been a crazy 24 hours, but I'm here, getting settled and it's been great," Heidt said to Hockey Canada. "I've known a lot of the guys for a while now, but there's a few new faces and it's been fun; everyone has been really welcoming."
