Asheville Tourists News Release

Harold Riggins ended things late Monday night with his 16th Home Run of the campaign; a walk-off, solo shot in the tenth inning. Asheville and Lexington were tied up 8-8 when the Tourists first-baseman delivered the big blast. Riggins was mobbed at home plate by his teammates as he gave the T's a 9-8 win.

Lexington jumped in front 5-0 after just half an inning of play with two Home Runs. Zach Johnson clubbed a two-run shot while Nolan Fontana hit a three-run Homer.

Will Swanner put the Tourists on the board with a solo Home Run in the bottom of the first inning. Asheville was not done as they plated four more in the second. Trevor Story doubled in a run and Sam Mende followed with a two-run single. After Mende stole second, Swanner singled into right and the game was tied up 5-5.

The teams then exchanged runs. Riggins hit a sac-fly scoring Mende in the fifth and Fontana doubled home Brandon Meredith in the sixth for Lexington. Jordan Ribera put Asheville in front with a sac-fly in the bottom of the sixth and the Tourists tacked on an insurance run in the eighth.

Leading 8-6 heading to the ninth, Russell Brewer tried to nail down the win for Asheville, but RBI singles by Johnson and Meredith extended the game which led to Riggins' tenth inning heroics.

The five-run deficit is the largest margin Asheville has overcome while pulling out a victory this season.
