
'Dads Walk off in 9th against Kannapolis, 4-3

HICKORY, NC - A two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning by C Kevin Torres lifted the Hickory Crawdads to the 4-3 walk-off win against the Kannapolis Intimidators, before 980 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Monday night.
The Intimidators (13-23, 46-60) took an early lead with two runs in the the top of the third inning against LHP Kevin Matthews. With two on and two down, 2B Joey DeMichele drove a two-run single to swing Kannapolis into the 2-0 lead.
The Crawdads (21-17, 57-50) responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the third inning against LHP Matthew Lane. With one out, SS Luis Sardinas doubled down the left field line, before moving to third on a ground out. After a walk by 3B Drew Robinson, LF Alejandro Selen swatted an RBI single to left field, scoring Sardinas and cutting the Intimidators lead in half at 2-1.
The 'Dads then took their first lead of the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. CF Chris Grayson led off with a walk and quickly stole second base. A 1B Trever Adams single with an error on the return throw from left field put Grayson and Adams at third and second base, respectively. One out later, Sardinas placed a two-out, two-run single to shallow left field, leap-frogging the Crawdads in front, 3-2.
The Intimidators, though, came right back with a run in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game. With the bases loaded and just one out against RHP Phil Klein, 1B Kyle Robinson bounced an RBI ground out to second base, bringing in DeMichele to tie it, 3-3.
After RHP Taylor Dennis (W, 2-0) dealt a scoreless top of the ninth to keep it tied, the 'Dads opened the bottom of the ninth with a leadoff double by Grayson against RHP Daniel Webb (L, 0-7). One out later, Grayson raced to third on a ground out by Adams, putting the game-winning run just ninety feet away with two outs. C Kevin Torres attacked the first pitch of his at bat and knocked an RBI single to left field, scoring Grayson for the 4-3 walk-off win for Hickory.
